Water heater flushes for both tank and tankless water heaters takes approximately 90 minutes. During your flush, cold water will operate normally, but you will be without hot water. If your water heater has a tank, you should also plan to be without hot water for an additional 30 to 90 minutes while the tank refills and reheats.

The anode on a regular water heater should be replaced every 3 years.
The anode is a part within a regular tank water heater that wears out over time. When this part wears out, the corrosion inside you hot water heater tank intensifies significantly increasing the possibility of leaks. Many water heaters come with a 10-year warranty, but regularly replacing the anode can easily increase the life of your water heater to 20+ years. This is one of the most important services you can do on your water heater to extend its life and overall performance.
